Infinity EX provides pre-sales technical support to help procurement and HSE teams select the appropriate certified device for their specific area classifications and project requirements.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the difference between Zone 1 and Zone 2?Zone 1 is a location where an explosive gas-air mixture is likely to occur during normal operation. Zone 2 is a location where an explosive gas-air mixture is not likely to occur during normal operation but may occur in abnormal conditions. Zone 1 requires Category 1G or 2G ATEX apparatus. Zone 2 requires Category 2G or 3G apparatus. Equipment certified for Zone 1 is always acceptable in Zone 2, but not vice versa.Do I need ATEX certification for all electronics in a hazardous area?Yes. All electrical and electronic equipment that is taken into or permanently installed within a classified Zone 1 or Zone 2 area must carry ATEX certification appropriate to that zone. This includes mobile phones, radios, tablets, torches, gas detectors and any other battery-powered or mains-powered device. The only exceptions are equipment specifically excluded from the ATEX Directive scope, such as detonators.
Infinity Ex ATEX-certified devices are trusted by major oil & gas operators including KOC, KNPC, ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, PDO, and QatarEnergy. Our devices meet the strictest safety standards for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
